Heute lief in HR3 „Im Geheimdienst ihrer Majestät“. Kurz vorm Finale heuchelt Tracy Interesse an Blofeld vor und sie schmeichelt ihn mit einem Gedicht:

Für Dich, oh Herr der Welt, Dein Tag anbricht,
Für Dich erglänzt das Gras im Sonnenlicht,
Für Dich versinken Schiffe tief im Meer,
Für Dich sind Märkte da mit ihrem Sklavenheer,
Für Dich der Hammer auf dem Amboss klingt,
Für Dich der Dichter von Verführung singt.

In einem James Bond-Forum fand ich heraus, dass es im Original von James Elroy Flecker und aus dem Schauspiel “Hassan: A Soldier’s Story” stammt:

Thy dawn, O Master of the World, thy dawn;
For thee the sunlight creeps across the lawn,
For thee the ships are drawn down to the waves,
For thee the markets throng with myriad slaves,
For thee the hammer on the anvil rings,
For thee the poet of beguilement sings.
